Fleet Tracking Firm Accuses Rival of AI-Product Espionage (1)

Truck fleet monitoring company Samsara Inc. accused its rival of industrial espionage to steal and copy its artificial intelligence technology that aims to enhance road safety.

Motive Technologies Inc. employees used unethical business practices to acquire Samsara’s proprietary tech, including an AI-based dash camera used to identify risky drivers and reduce road crashes, the company alleged in a complaint filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.

Motive’s employees posed as prospective Samsara clients from nonexistent companies, ordered the company’s products, and drilled customer service with detailed questions about the technology, according to the complaint.
