Fitbit Escapes Philips Infringement Lawsuit After Patent Nixed

Fitbit LLC won an order dismissing a patent infringement lawsuit from rival Philips North America LLC over wearable fitness trackers, months after an appeals court affirmed an administrative decision invalidating the lone patent still in play in the dispute.

Judge Dennis Saylor IV of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts ended the case Friday, noting an April ruling from the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit upholding a Patent Trial and Appeal Board decision invalidating all relevant claims in US Patent No. 7,088,233.
