FedEx Revives Patent Claims in Appeals From Qualcomm Rulings

The Federal Circuit overturned a decision invalidating claims from one Federal Express Corp. patent and sent two others back to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board after finding errors in the board’s analysis deeming additional claims obvious.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit issued the rulings Wednesday in three related appeals from inter partes reviews brought by Qualcomm Inc. challenging FedEx’s logistics-tracking patents. The patents were among six FedEx asserted in a Delaware federal infringement suit against Roambee Corp., which has since rebranded as Decklar.
