Federal Circuit Shoots Down Albright Plan to Move Intel Trial

Intel Corp. convinced the Federal Circuit to stop a West Texas judge from requiring the company return to Waco, Texas, for a patent infringement trial in January.

VLSI Technology LLC originally sued Intel in Waco for infringing its data processing system patents, and the case was transferred to Austin. Judge Alan Albright of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas ordered in November that he would move the case back to Waco for a Jan. 11 jury trial if the federal courthouse in Austin doesn’t lift a pandemic-related closure in time.
