Energy technology firm Lancium LLC fended off an appeal from Louisiana cryptocurrency-miner Austin Storms seeking to revive his suit claiming he deserves an inventor credit on the company’s patent.
A district court judge was correct to knock down Storms’ arguments that he should be named as sole or co-inventor on a Lancium patent, Judge Kara F. Stoll wrote in a precedential opinion issued Monday by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Stoll also rejected several other arguments raised by Storms and his company, BearBox LLC, as they sought to revive their district court suit against Lancium.
