Federal Circuit Chief Looks Forward to Gender-Balanced Court

Federal Circuit Chief Judge Sharon Prost has seen improvements in diversity among the court’s bar and clerks, and is excited for the bench to hit an upcoming diversity milestone.

“When we get our new nominee, hopefully sooner rather than later, we will have six women on the court,” Prost said at the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s virtual spring meeting Friday. “That’s half of the active judge slate.”

Prost referred to the pending nomination of Tiffany P. Cunningham to replace Judge Evan J. Wallach, who is taking senior status at the end of May.
