Fed. Cir. Mulls Validity of USAA’s Mobile-Check Deposit Patents

Federal Circuit judges on Wednesday pondered whether USAA patents covering mobile-check deposit technology were written so broadly as to be abstract, and thus, invalid.

United Services Automobile Association, typically referred to by its initials, convinced jurors at separate trials in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas that PNC Bank NA infringed various patents resulting in verdicts for damages totaling $218.5 million in May 2022 and $4.3 million in September 2022.
