Fast Food, Grocery Chains Sued Over Mobile-Ordering Patents

Fast-food restaurants and grocery stores including Dunkin Donuts LLC, the Wendys Co., and the Kroger Co. were accused in separate lawsuits of infringing patents related to mobile-ordering technology.

Tiare Technology Inc. said the companies’ mobile-ordering apps infringed its US Patent Nos. 8,682,729, 10,157,414, and 11,195,224, involving “wireless ordering” systems, according to complaints filed Dec. 23 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Other defendants hit with similar litigation the same day include Albertsons LLC, Applebees Restaurants LLC, Dine Brand Global Inc., and Sonic Industries Services Inc.
