Artist Maggie Stephenson sued fast-fashion brand Shein for more than $100 million Wednesday, claiming that the company willfully infringed her copyrighted artwork and removed copyright management information from her work in violation the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Stephenson is an independent artist whose work can be found in Sephora and Natural Products Insider magazine as well as on consumer products such as jigsaw puzzles and wine bottles, according to the suit.
She says Shein stole her original illustration, “One is good, more is better,” and sold it as an “Abstract Pattern Wall Painting Without Frame” for as little as $4.00 ...
