Xerox Unit Accuses Facebook, Twitter of Patent Infringement (1)

A Xerox Corp. subsidiary has accused Twitter Inc. and Facebook Inc. of infringing several of its patents, including through tools the social media companies use to help stop the spread of false or misleading news.

Palo Alto Research Center Inc. claimed in lawsuits filed Wednesday that its patented technology supports many of Twitter and Facebook’s core functionalities, including the companies’ targeted advertisement services and notification features.

The complaints were filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. PARC also sued Snap Inc., according to federal court dockets.
