Facebook Sued by Walkie-Talkie App Maker for Patent Infringement

Facebook allegedly stole walkie-talkie app maker Voxer’s patented technology and incorporated it into its Facebook Live and Instagram Live live streaming platforms, according to a complaint filed in Texas federal court.

Facebook infringes five Voxer patents covering innovations in transmitting streaming media, the complaint says. Voxer says its app enables the “transmission of voice and video communications with the immediacy of live communication and the reliability and convenience of messaging” even “under poor and varying network conditions and regardless of recipient availability.”
