Facebook Inc. wants the Patent and Trademark Office to kill a Blackberry Inc. patent for a process behind silencing incoming messages on mobile devices.
The social media giant and its Instagram LLC and WhatsApp Inc. services asked the agency’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board to conduct an administrative review, known as inter partes review, of a patent related to the process for silencing messages that are part of a thread.
