Facebook Can’t Shed Search Display Patent Infringement Suit

Facebook Inc.'s bid to dismiss a video search display patent infringement lawsuit before trial has fizzled in U.S. federal court.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California denied Facebook’s motion to dismiss a complaint accusing it of infringing seven Hypermedia Navigation LLC patents. The order sheds light on which technologies pass a patent eligibility test laid down by the 2014 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Alice v. CLS Bank.
