American Vision Partners disregarded cybersecurity best practices leading to a data breach exposing more than 2 million patients’ personal and medical information to potential criminal misuse, a proposed class action filed in Arizona federal court alleged.
The eye-care clinic system service provider’s network was breached on Nov. 14, 2023, compromising patients’ names, Social Security numbers, clinical records, and medical insurance information, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Arizona. The putative class action named Medical Management Resource Group, which does business as American Vision Partners, as the defendant.
