Former NBA player Tristan Thompson is suing World Mobile Group Ltd. over the collapse of his brand ambassador deal with the cryptocurrency company.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday, says World Mobile is continuing to use the retired basketball player‘s name, image, and likeness in promotional materials despite having fired him on a pretext over his alleged failure to return an overpayment of digital tokens.
World Mobile breached its pledge to pay Thompson up to $2 million over two years—denominated in WMTx, the company’s own token—despite his extensive work on its behalf, according to the complaint filed in Delaware’s Chancery Court. ...
