Former GlaxoSmithKline scientist Lucy Xi pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to steal trade secrets from the company to benefit Chinese pharmaceutical firm Renopharma, Department of Justice said.
- Lucy Xi’s co-defendants, Yu Xue, Tao Li and Yan Mei, used Renopharma as a repository of information stolen from GSK, according to U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams
- Renopharma received financial support and subsidies from the government of China
- These products typically cost in excess of $1 billion to research and develop
