Ex-Glaxo Scientist Pleads Guilty to Stealing Trade Secrets: DOJ

Former GlaxoSmithKline scientist Lucy Xi pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to steal trade secrets from the company to benefit Chinese pharmaceutical firm Renopharma, Department of Justice said.

  • Lucy Xi’s co-defendants, Yu Xue, Tao Li and Yan Mei, used Renopharma as a repository of information stolen from GSK, according to U.S. Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams
  • Renopharma received financial support and subsidies from the government of China
  • These products typically cost in excess of $1 billion to research and develop
