Recently terminated Copyright Office Register Shira Perlmutter sued President Donald Trump and the person he named as acting Librarian of Congress on Thursday, seeking an emergency injunction blocking her removal.

Perlmutter says the Trump administration’s attempts to remove her are “blatantly unlawful” because the power to appoint and therefore remove the register of copyrights is vested in the librarian of Congress, not the president, according to a complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
