Eton Pharma Accuses Supplement Maker of Trademark Infringement

Eton Pharmaceuticals Inc. sued dietary supplement company Extreme V Inc. and its owner John Wu, alleging trademark infringement and unfair competition over a zinc product marketed for Wilson’s disease treatment.

The suit, filed Aug. 15 in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, claims Extreme V’s “Gluzin” supplement infringes on Eton’s registered “Galzin” trademark for its FDA-approved zinc acetate drug. Eton alleges Extreme V is intentionally trading on Galzin’s reputation and goodwill by using a confusingly similar name and marketing Gluzin as a substitute treatment for Wilson’s disease, a rare genetic disorder.
