Estée Lauder Cos. willfully infringed a patent with its cosmetics virtual try-on technology, according to a federal lawsuit.
Estée Lauder’s “Virtually Try Before You Buy” module for lipstick and makeup, as well as its augmented reality ads available on its website and applications, infringe Zugara Inc.'s Patent No. 10,482,517, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The features allow users to virtually try on makeup products using their device’s camera and display, the complaint said.
