Ericsson Sues Acer Over Licensing Push for 4G, 5G Tech Patents

Telecommunications giant Ericsson Inc. sued Acer Inc., accusing the electronics maker of aggressively pushing for licensing deals that would allow to Ericsson customers to use essential 4G and 5G technology patents.

Acer demanded technology licenses with Ericsson’s customers in July before suing them six months later in Texas federal court, according to Ericsson’s complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. Ericsson said Acer met with T-Mobile, AT&T, and the telecommunications giant before filing the suits.
