Retirement plan investment firm Empower Annuity Insurance Co. agreed to dismiss its trademark lawsuit after a personal finance company agreed to change its name, the company said.
Empower Finance Inc. and Empower Annuity filed a joint stipulation of dismissal without prejudice, ending the US District Court for the District of Colorado litigation. Judge Charlotte N. Sweeney granted the dismissal March 4.
Empower Annuity said in a statement that Empower Finance will change its brand name as part of the settlement.
Empower Finance attorney Greg Gilchrist of Verso Law Group LLP said “the parties reached a mutually agreeable confidential settlement.”
