Emo Band Sues Boot Maker Over ‘Thursday’ Trademarks

Rock band Thursday sued Thursday Boot Co. in Manhattan federal court for allegedly infringing its trademarks by selling shoes, clothing, and face masks using the “Thursday” name.

Thursday formed in New Jersey in 1997 and has been recognized as “one of the architects of the American alternative ‘emo’ genre,” the complaint says. The band says it’s also known for its influence on fashion and footwear, having collaborated with Vans and Converse, made clothing with Shepard Fairey, and been cited as an influence on several fashion labels.
