Edwards Lifesciences Proceeds With Heart Valve Trademark Claim

Edwards Lifesciences Corp. has adequately alleged claims that competitor Meril Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd. infringed a trademark associated with an Edwards artificial heart valve and engaged in unfair competition and false advertising, a federal court in California ruled.

But Edwards won’t have a chance to change its complaint to add additional facts about alleged misstatements to consumers and regulators, Judge Haywood S. Gilliam Jr. said Thursday for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
