E-Banking Patent Underlying Multiple Lawsuits Nixed by Board (1)

Unified Patents LLC, a consortium opposed to “bad patent assertions,” defeated a patent that mCom IP LLC asserted against nearly 40 banks and finance companies in lawsuits filed across the country.

The suits were filed in late 2021 and 2022 against a range of large and small companies including Wells Fargo and Bank of America. mCom claims the financial companies infringed its electronic banking patent—US Patent No. 8,862,508.

Unified Patents challenged 16 of the patent’s claims in an October 2021 petition to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
