Duckhorn Sues Rival Over ‘Duck Pond’ Wine Trademark, Trade Dress

Duckhorn Wine Co. accused a rival of violating settlement agreements by selling “Duck Pond” wine featuring Duckhorn’s trade dress.

Stone Wolf Vinyards LLC violated terms of a series of settlements in which its corporate predecessor agreed to use “Duck Pond” only with a house mark on limited wines, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. The Napa Valley winemaker said Stone Wolf has introduced wine labels and other marketing materials that don’t comply with the agreement and has attempted to register noncompliant trademarks.
