A California federal judge offered little indication whether he’d grant Dropbox Inc.'s bid to defeat an infringement lawsuit over patented file sharing technology used in cloud-computing networks.
Dropbox argued its products are distinguishable from technology covered by Entangled Media LLC’s US Patent No. 8,296,338 because of icons the company uses to differentiate between virtual and local files. Entangled’s counsel, John Lord of Skiermont Derby LLP, argued the systems are distinguishable at a glance, but that they work in the same way and are unaffected by the icons.
