Drake Hit With $10 Million Sampling Suit From Ghanaian Musician

The rapper Drake and a group of music labels and publishers were hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit from Ghanaian musician Obrafour, who claimed that Drake’s 2022 song “Calling My Name” unlawfully sampled from his own song.

Obrafour is seeking at least $10 million in damages.

The complaint filed in Manhattan federal court said a representative for Drake emailed Obrafour about securing the rights to sample “Oye Ohene,” but Drake released the song with the sample over a week later, before Obrafour responded.
