DraftKings Mostly Defeats WinView App Patent Infringement Suit

DraftKings Inc. convinced a federal judge to dismiss the majority of WinView Inc.'s infringement lawsuit over two patents for synchronization and geographic location technology used in its app.

WinView failed to sufficiently describe DraftKings’ alleged infringement of US Patent No. 10,721,543 and purported willful infringement of US Patent No. 10,806,988, Judge Georgette Castner said in an unpublished opinion docketed July 11 in the US District Court for the District of New Jersey. WinView’s claim of direct infringement of the ‘988 patent will proceed because DraftKings didn’t challenge it.
