DraftKings, FanDuel Apps Targeted by Cantor Unit Patent Lawsuits

A range of mobile betting and casino apps run by DraftKings Inc. and FanDuel Inc. infringe patents covering secure smartphone gambling systems, a Cantor Fitzgerald LP unit said in separate federal lawsuits.

Interactive Games LLC, a successor to Cantor Gaming, said DraftKings’ mobile apps—including its sportsbook, casino, fantasy sports, and other betting platforms—infringe five patents covering systems for verifying users’ identities and locations as well as preventing tampering in smartphone gambling systems, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
