Donald Glover’s ‘This Is America’ Ripped Off Rapper, Suit Says

Actor Donald Glover, known musically as Childish Gambino, ripped off another music video to make his 2018 hit “This Is America,” a rapper alleged in a New York federal lawsuit.

Emelike Nwosuocha, known as Kidd Wes, said his 2016 “Made In America” and “This Is America” have “nearly-identical” rhythmic, lyrical, and thematic content in a Wednesday lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Both songs’ videos also depict themes including gun violence and oppression of African Americans by police, the suit said.
