Dometic Loses Bid to Dodge Seakeeper’s Yacht-Tech Patent Suit

Dometic Corp. must face Seakeeper Inc.’s patent-infringement allegations over yacht-roll stabilizers after a federal judge rejected its argument that a Canadian affiliate of its parent company is responsible for the targeted device.

Judge John Campbell Barker denied Dometic’s bid to dismiss Seakeeper’s suit over the DG3 gyrostabilizer, which reduces boat roll and improves onboard comfort, in an opinion issued Monday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware. He said Seakeeper plausibly alleged that Dometic’s US unit—not another affiliate of parent Dometic Group AB—is liable for the alleged infringement of US Patent Nos. 7,546,782 and 8,117,930.
