Tribunal Axing of Xerox Mobile Device Patent Affirmed on Appeal

The Federal Circuit affirmed a tribunal decision finding invalid a mobile device patent that was among a handful asserted by Xerox Corp. against social media giants X, Facebook, and Snapchat.

Substantial evidence supports the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s finding that all challenged claims of Xerox’s US Patent No. 9,208,439 are unpatentable as obvious, according to a nonprecedential opinion issued Thursday by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
