Disney ‘Win or Lose’ Tees Draw ‘Portland Pickles’ Trademark Suit

T-shirts referencing a fictional baseball team from the animated Disney+ show “Win or Lose” allegedly infringe the trademarks of a real Portland, Ore., summer squad for college players.

Rose City Baseball LLC—operator of the Portland Pickles—said Disney Enterprises Inc.'s merchandise for the Peaks Valley Pickles confused fans into thinking the team partnered with Disney or sold it rights, the complaint in the US District Court for the District of Oregon said. The confusion “threatens to overshadow years of grassroots growth, community engagement, creative expression, and national expansion,” the team alleged in its suit filed Wednesday.
