Disney Enterprises Inc. filed a trademark lawsuit against an online retailer that went by the name “The Secret Disney Group” for allegedly selling knock-off merchandise including masks and Mickey Mouse ears.
The Secret Disney Group, later rebranded as Sparkling Dreamers, intentionally confuses consumers into believing that their merchandise is associated with Disney, the complaint filed in Florida federal court said.
The unauthorized trademarks used include imagery from “Star Wars,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Winnie-the-Pooh,” and the Cinderella Castle, according to Disney’s filing. The products at issue also include stickers, buttons, and key chains, it said.
