Disney, ‘Predator’ Screenwriters Sue Each Other Over Copyrights

Writers of the screenplay that became the Hollywood blockbuster “Predator” filed suit in a San Francisco federal court seeking to reclaim their copyright from Walt Disney Co. unit Twentieth Century Fox, which sued them in a Los Angeles federal court the same day in an effort to block the move.

The lawsuit by Jim and John Thomas—who wrote the original screenplay “Hunters,” which they later turned into the script for “Predator"—requests an order declaring that they validly terminated Twentieth Century Fox’s rights with a 2016 notice purporting to “recapture” the copyright as of this Saturday.
