DISH Technologies LLC and Sling TV LLC sued adult video website Spankbang.com for allegedly using their patented adaptive bitrate streaming technology without permission, claiming the site violated federal patent laws by using adaptive bitrate streaming methods.
The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware, says website operator MBB Ventures LLC infringed US Patent Nos. 11,991,234, 8,868,772, 11,677,798, and 11,470,138, which relate to streaming technology that automatically adjusts video quality based on internet connection speed.
