DexCom’s New G7 System Allegedly ‘Robs’ Global Leader Abbott (1)

Abbott Laboratories alleges that DexCom Inc.’s G7 glucose monitoring system, which launched in the US last month, is “its biggest knockoff yet” and infringes four patents for Abbott’s top-selling FreeStyle Libre systems, intensifying a legal battle that began nearly two decades ago.

Abbott Diabetes Care Inc. and Abbott Diabetes Care Ltd. say that, “with G7, DexCom has copied Abbott’s flagship patented features: an applicator with an all-in-one on-body unit with integrated sensor and electronics that allows for application in a single step,” according to a complaint filed March 3 in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
