Denso Fails to Escape Semiconductor Patent Suit Over Car Parts

Japanese car parts maker Denso Corp. and its American unit didn’t convince a Texas federal judge to completely dismiss it from Monterey Research LLC’s patent infringement lawsuit concerning semiconductors made by Renesas Electronics Corp.

Denso argued Monterey failed to identify any infringing Denso products, and that being a Renesas customer doesn’t imply involvement in the patent suit’s claimed methods. But the court found Monterey did sufficiently identify Denso products and that “although most patent infringement complaints identify a specific end product by name or number” Monterey has no obligation to do so at this stage in litigation.
