Democrats Take Up FCC Majority with Gomez Senate Confirmation

The Senate confirmed Anna Gomez to fill a longtime vacancy at the Federal Communications Commission, delivering President Joe Biden a crucial majority that clears the way for Democrats to act on their telecommunications priorities.

Thursday’s 55-43 vote to confirm Gomez, an FCC management veteran, to the fifth spot at the agency breaks a years-long 2-to-2 partisan deadlock.
