Democratic Governors Seek AI Middle Path Policy Under Trump

Blue-state lawmakers are pushing to regulate artificial intelligence with increased urgency following President Donald Trump’s return to the White House and his subsequent repeal of existing federal rules. Their governors? Less so.

The governors of California, New York, Connecticut, and Colorado have echoed Trump’s bullishness on AI’s potential to drive economic growth. AI regulations are not worth the risks to innovation, they say, unless lawmakers are able to show that existing laws can’t cover potential harms.
