Delta Wars Continue as Airliner Moves to Ax Marriott Trademarks

Delta Air Lines Inc. shifted its litigation against Marriott to the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board as it filed new bids to cancel “Delta Hotels by Marriott” trademarks.

Marriott International Inc. acquired Canadian hotel chain Delta Hotels’ brand in 2015 and expanded it into the U.S. as a premium hotel brand.

The airline company’s petitions for cancellation said consumers would perceive Delta had involvement with the brand, and that the 2016 registration dilutes Delta’s longstanding, famous brand.
