US District Judge Colm F. Connolly has ruled that his investigation into prolific patent-monetization company IP Edge LLC will continue, even after LLCs tied to the firm sought to drop their cases in his Delaware court.
Connolly issued standing orders in the spring of 2022—including one requiring parties before him to disclose sources of third-party litigation funding—and began investigating several litigants that he said appeared not to comply. Several companies have subsequently resisted turning over documents as part of that probe, arguing the judge no longer has authority to pry records from them because they voluntarily dropped their suits.
