Major League Soccer’s Dallas franchise was hit with a lawsuit alleging its use of online ticketing services by providers including AEG Presents LLC’s AXS Ticketing to allow customers to re-sell tickets after a game has started infringed two expired patents for the technology held by a Florida-based company.
Alvao Digital LLC, which filed the complaint against FC Dallas Soccer LLC on Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, also has sued several other professional sports teams and major ticketing companies over the same patents.
