Daimler Faces More Pressure After Conversant Wins Patent Ruling

Conversant Intellectual Property Management Inc. won an injunction in a patent dispute with Daimler AG, joining a group of technology owners whose victories could theoretically lead to a ban on the sales of the carmaker’s vehicles in its home country.

Daimler used the company’s mobile technology in vehicles without a license, the Munich judges ruled Friday. The ruling doesn’t take effect automatically. Conversant would have to start separate enforcement proceedings to implement the ban.

In an email, the carmaker said it will appeal and doesn’t expect sales or production to come to a halt.
