Washington, D.C., restaurant Gypsy Kitchen will owe a photographer money for infringing her photo on a wall mural, but it’s too soon to say how much, a federal judge ruled.
Mirjam Letsch established Southern Proper Hospitality Group LLC’s liability for using her copyrighted photo at a second restaurant despite only licensing it for one, Judge Timothy J. Kelly of the US District Court for the District of Columbia ruled Wednesday. But the court found Southern Proper’s promotions depicting the licensed photo at its Atlanta restaurant didn’t infringe.
