D.C. Circuit Declines to Rehear AI Art Copyrightability Case

The D.C. Circuit rejected computer scientist Stephen Thaler’s bid for a full-court rehearing of his case seeking to reverse the US Copyright Office’s refusal to register a copyright for an AI-generated image.

Thaler’s petition for en banc review of a three-judge panel’s March decision was denied Monday in an order filed in the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
