Cyntec’s $4.6 Million Patent Award Undone by Federal Circuit

A federal appeals court affirmed a California jury’s verdict that Chilisin Electronics Corp. infringed two Cyntec Company Ltd. patents dealing with the manufacturing of inductors even as it threw out a $4.6 million award for profits lost to the infringement.

The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed the jury’s verdict Monday that Chilisin infringed U.S. Patent Nos. 8,922,312 and 9,481,037 by manufacturing and selling molded chokes—inductors that eliminate unwanted signals in a circuit in electronics—made with similar methods.
