CVS Health Corp. settled a UCLA professor’s copyright and trademark claims in a suit alleging the drugstore used his medicine compliance scales without a license.
Donald E. Morisky’s company and CVS asked the US District Court for the District of Nevada Tuesday to pause the suit over unlicensed use of the “Morisky Adherence Scale” for predicting patient behavior in taking prescribed medication. Morisky’s company learned of the infringement when the CEO of a third-party pharmacy sent CEO Philip Morisky, Donald’s son, a LinkedIn message thanking him for the system’s benefits to patients.
