Curb on Taylor Swift’s ‘Showgirl’ Use Sought in Trademark Fight

A Las Vegas performer urged a federal judge to block Taylor Swift from using “The Life of a Showgirl” on merchandise and for concerts while her trademark infringement lawsuit against the pop star proceeds.

A preliminary injunction is necessary to prevent Swift’s “overwhelming commercial presence” from eroding Maren Wade’s “Confessions of a Showgirl” trademark and erasing the brand she’s spent 12 years building, according to a motion filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
