Cummins Fails to Escape C3.ai Trade Secrets Suit Over Fuel Tool

Cummins Inc. failed to earn the dismissal of C3.ai’s trade secrets lawsuit accusing the engine maker of misusing confidential information about a fuel optimization AI tool to develop its own product.

C3.ai sufficiently described which parts of its AI tool are trade secrets, the Delaware Superior Court said, and that the timing of Cummins’ release of its own tool supports the claims of misappropriation, according to an opinion partly unsealed Monday in Delaware Superior Court.

The AI company filed a lawsuit against Cummins in November 2023, alleging trade secret violations and breach of contract.
